Considerations
The use of proper
dryer venting materials as well as adequate
installation will insure maximum dryer performance,
resulting in lower electric and/or gas usage.
Also, when clothes are given the proper amount of
air, they dry more rapidly, and are subject to a
reduced amount of tumbling, wear and tear. In
order to accomplish these savings, your dryer vent
system must meet the subsequent ANSI codes:

Dryer vents shall be independent from all other
exhaust systems and vented outdoors

Dryer ducts must be at least 4" in diameter the
same as the dryer's outlet

Use
only metal connectors between the dryer and
the exhaust duct

Ductwork joints shall be secured with metal tape
only, never screws or rivets

Pipe connections should be installed so the point
in the same direction as the airflow

All
Concealed dryer ducts shall be rigid metal either
galvanized or aluminum

The
outside vent cap should have a functioning back
draft damper and a rodent/bird screen
